April started beautifully, with sunshine and friendship. We helped a young farmer install wire in his greenhouse during most of the afternoon. Good team work which involved the whole family including Mom! Next Saturday, we are going back to help him install the plastic sheeting over the wires.

Hi Cat,
That is really nice of you and your family! And in a group it is so much more fun to do this kind of work.
Take good care,
Sarah

Yikes! April is off to a rough start! In my defense, we just got back from a vacation in Sri Lanka on March 31. I don’t think I actually realized it was April 1st yesterday until I got home!! Today is off to a better start. I’ve made breakfast, packed a lunch, and have everything set up and ready to go to the gym this evening.

Oo, Sri Lanka, sounds wonderful!
How did you like it?
What did you see and do?

:) Ambrosita

Sri Lanka was a very welcome change from Saudi Arabia, where we live. I liked it very much, but mainly because I was so intrigued. The whole experience was very touristy, something that my husband and I really don’t like, but it didn’t seem like there was any other way to go about it there! See saw a couple UNESCO world heritage sites, laid around in a villa in the jungle, and toured Colombo for a couple days. We’ll definitely go back, if for no other reason but to give it a go without a tour guide and try to experience the real Sri Lanka.

Oooh, lovely! Sri Lanka is on our list, too. Haven’t researched anything though, so your comments are interesting, I like intrigue. Welcome home…and to April!

:) kaizenkaren

Sounds like a wonderful vacation! I’m glad it was good for you.

What is it like living in Saudi Arabia? What do you and hubby do there?

:) Ambrosita

Living in Saudi Arabia is…challenging. But very educational. I’ve appreciated getting the opportunity to learn so much about a culture that is so very different from my home country. My husband and I are teachers at a Saudi school. All our students are Saudi, so we’ve gotten a first-hand experience with the true Saudi Arabia.

That said, we’re moving to Kuwait in June! haha! We’ve tried it, now we’re moving on!

This will be my first public Review of the Day— thanks for the suggestion, Katja. It was a nice day. Slept in much later than I was planning (noon) in a comfortable bed in NYC, then spent the morning with Josh (my brother). Had a great brunch with him, and finally got on the road for Great Barrington at 3:15pm or so. Some traffic getting out of the city but then it was nice, and made it to school by 6:30. It’s nice to be back! Hopefully the schoolwork will be more manageable for these last six weeks of the semester.

Lots of challenges coming up in April. Lots of opportunity as well…..just wait and see how it all pans out. I’m looking forward to incorporating meditation back into my routine. My mind is settled enough for this to happen. I am looking forward to another month of communicating with my teammates.

Does it count for water if you have non-caffeinated tea with no sugar or anything else in it?

:) jackiechica

Even decaff tea is a diuretic, so probably not :(

:) cicadaqueen

But it’s herbal – never had caffeine. Is that still a diuretic?

:) wendelicious

Well, you pick your own rules- do you think it counts?

:) cicadaqueen

I think it does but I wasn’t sure if you’re supposed to stick to straight water. I drink tea when I’m at work so that would make it easier to get to the right number.

:) nonners

Even though tea is a mild diuretic, the water that gets into your body from it is way more than what comes out because of the diuretic effect. I would count tea (or especially wet fruit, like watermelon) as water.

:) otternonsense

I was reading up on what the Mayo Clinic has to say on the subject yesterday (http://www.mayoclinic.com/health/water/NU00283). It’s pretty useful information and agrees with what Shannon was saying that you’d lose some but retain more.

:) wendelicious

FWIW, Weight Watchers (which usually goes by FDA guidelines) says to drink 6-8 cups of any liquid (caffeine is OK, alcohol doesn’t count) each day.

:) cicadaqueen

OK, thanks. On a side note, does anyone know how to get this thing to stop emailing me every time there’s a reply? I thought I had everything checked off but I’m still getting email.

:) Didieatslife

i think it counts! to me, it’s about the same as having cucumber in your water. but that’s just me. maybe you can try the tea this week, and shoot for water next week?
