A day long trip to Knott’s Berry Farm with two busses of 7th graders. We all had a great time and enjoyed the day. Didn’t get to spend anytime with the girls. But I’ll make up for that soon with Summer vacation.

good day, balanced work and personal fairly well on a day with extra demands. so glad that May is over. I had far too many rules this month and will return to a more reasonable number in June.

Busy day at work and the kids are getting antsy. Summer vacation is almost here. Picked up the girls and followed our evening routine. We did spend alot of time playing the piano though it just seemed like the fun thing to do last night. Almost done with one of the books I am reading, “Rule 34,” and I’d have to say I really enjoy the book.

Last day of school and my youngest has been out sick for the last two. I need to make a decision to send her today or not. I will wake her in 15 if she still has a fever it will be a “no” and she will not be happy…..

good day. continuing to hold on to the positive frame of mind at work which is helpful. I need to keep strengthening my “positive frame of mind” muscle, if there is such a thing :) played charades with freddy evening. it was thoroughly delightful and quite funny. Misterol needs fruit, barely.
I lost 1 life point because of the following things…
I track my meals on WeightWatchers.com and I have been having a hard time sticking to it. I am eating fine, just not tracking it.

Thank you everyone! |
Home on a furlough day from work, nice California state budget crunch. I had breakfast with an old friend, worked in the backyard, went for a long walk, read the book of the month from the Sword and Laser book club, Hyperian. In the evening Izzy and I had dinner together just the two of us for some Daddy time. Then a meeting at church and home home for reading and bedtime.

Just writing out loud….
My thoughts about how I made better decisions while on vacation because of my Health, Humor, and Hapiness team:
If I was not on a Health Month Team (my teammates weren’t counting on me), I never would have:
1. Completed my weight training or yoga,
2. Taken my multi-vitamin,
3. Completed my skin regime in the evenings and flossed,
4. Kept from eating seconds,
5. Eaten greens,
6. Run 3 days
7. Listed things I was grateful for,
8. Studied German
Ok I’m not saying I was perfect. I did go over my calorie goals (by a lot everyday), I did drink too much, and I did have too much sugar but it was significantly better than I would have done.
Thanks all!

That’s terrific, Kelley! Thanks for letting us know, too! |
good day. kept a positive frame of mind about returning to work and it was a smooth re-entry day. told some of my co-workers about my mother-in-law’s illness and they were wonderfully supportive. very busy day ahead for tomorrow; need to keep working on that positive frame of mind.

Thank you both!! |
yesterday had a quite long run together with my boyfriend. We ran 10km in 1h15.
For me that was quite good, because usually i run only about 4-6km.
So that was a real extension of my limit :-) After that we swom in very cold lake… Recreation-sleep at night was interrupted. My body was little exhausted today :-)
At work i felt quite tired – but made good improvements there too though ;-)
No I´m reeally tired and think i´m gonna sleep like a little baby tonight

Spent the day at Knott’s Soak City in Palm Springs with the family. It was my wife’s birthday and Amber’s adoption anniversary day. So we had a blast at the water park then cleaned up and went out to dinner with family and friends.

You know how to live it up!! |
good day. Finished the 5k in less than 45 minutes and ran about 2/3 of it. Two months ago I had a similar time, but only ran 1/3.
Got to see my brother’s new house today. It was nice to see him and his family and their new space is really great.
Also got to see my dad which is a rare treat. He brought homemade cinnamon rolls which are delicious.
Trying to keep a positive frame of mind around going back to work tomorrow.

Sounds like it was a great day. Congratulations on your increase in stamina. I have also found that my times don’t change much if I’m doing significantly more running. Our walking time between speed intervals must be a lot slower. But the fact that you could do that much more running is terrific. The positive frame of mind clearly worked pretty well, too, so congratulations on that, as well! |

You’re very welcome. I was looking at it from the point of view of stamina, but if speed is your main goal, maybe you aren’t walking frequently enough. I don’t know if you’ve heard of Jeff Galloway, but he has come up with kind of a formula for walking breaks to increase speed. I was going to try his method, but I’ve been walking instead of running to get ready for this event. Here is the link. Even though he’s talking marathons, I think it’s still good for us. http://www.jeffgalloway.com/training/walk_breaks.html |

Very helpful! Stamina is my main goal for now, and then I will focus on speed when I’ve built stamina up a bit more. So this will definitely help me out. I loved your mushy note on the other thread. I’ve “known” you for less than a month and only through healthmonth, but I do indeed feel like I know you. I feel supported by you and I’m grateful to be a part of this team that you have put together. I think you are a great person that is working to make the world a healthier and happier place :) |

Last day in Florida. We rented a houseboat boat and our going to check out all the little islands around the area. I’m heading out to exercise now!
intense day. found out a relative is ill, neurologic condition with no treatment that will gradually progress. sad. still processing the news. feel helpless as there is nothing that can be done. the wheel gave me an extra life point today, which oddly made me feel a little better about the situation.
on a brighter note, I found out my brother is running a 5k tomorrow and I spontaneously decided to run it too. My dad is also coming to watch us which is nice. I’m nervous because my last 5k was in March and I only ran 1/3 of it, had to walk the rest. I would very much like to run the whole thing tomorrow, and will give it my all. But I have to recognize my limits and realize that I may not be there yet. I will do my best and not judge myself.
Had my first black raspberry of the season from our garden (well, the second…Freddy had the first). It was delicious.
