KareenP had a couple thoughts.

Heart.full.16 10 · 954 pts

Rewards…are changing again. I lost 1 life point so I think that’s enough to motivate me. I completely forgot about adding my agenda habit as a rule! It would have make things easier from the beginning to work with a habit that’s already planned! I’ll say this though this website is fun.

KareenP is fruit-hungry.

Oh my, oh my I think I’m lost in the Health Month system and it’s morning here so I’m slow as well.

:)
KareenP sent 4 pieces of fruit with this note:

Fail, adjust, reiterate.

Cat sent 2 pieces of fruit with this note:

Hi Kareen,
I hope the fruit will help you get your life point back.

Cheers,
Cat

DanielleW sent 2 pieces of fruit with this note:

Don’t worry about losing points at the beginning. I think I lost 8 points my first week just trying to get the hang of how Health Month worked! And see – you get points back with fruit from the team!

@ Cat and Danielle

Your comments helped me get through my day somehow. I know it’s digital fruit…but digital support is real! Thanks!

Here are my forms from The Habit Course for anyone interested.
Checki g my agenda and making a to do list (the habit is now 10 minutes long since yesterday evening) :

Day 22 http://db.tt/RfseHb4M
Day 23 http://db.tt/Fmn3pEOg
Day 24 http://db.tt/i18k3Q3x

The Work planning sheet http://db.tt/f9cSsilS

This morning I did a test because I wasn’t sure if I’d remember to do THe Work as soon as I wake up. No worries! I did it!

With two habits I will be doubly rewarded yay! …which can rapidly degenerate into a confused mess…

Kareen, interesting thought, breaking a rule on productivity as your reward for doing the habit, I like that! I think you have earned an off-topic moment for yourself. BTW as long as you do your planning for the new habit, I’d say you DID follow the rule. Don’t be too hard to yourself, we want it to be easy for you – ok, this is not my own wisdom, Barrie told me that in the forum…

Hi Kareen,

Congratulations, and thanks for sharing your forms!

I found this recently and thought you might be interested. It helps with task / project tracking and I am going to use it at work: http://davidseah.com/blog/2005/11/the-printable-ceo-part-ii-much-to-do-about-task-tracking/
If you browse David’s site you will find several forms for different purposes.

Take care,
Cat

I lime it too thanks for reminding me actually. Ok, I’ll stick with that reward for the agenda habit and checking of my to do list for the habit about dong THe Work. Thank you Julia!

@Cat
Thank you for sharing. He hasinteresting stuff. I love his challenge section with his limit of 4 hours. It shows that he works in a creative job.

I really like David Seah’s forms. I use one of the time trackers for my “pomodoro” technique – set the timer for 25 minutes and track how many 25 minute segments it takes to accomplish a task. That timer ticking really helps to focus me.

What is Pomodoro, Danielle?

Cat
So glad you asked about Pomodoro which is a great focusing time managment system. I’ll give you the web site that explains it all by the “inventor”. He has a downloadable e-book. the site is www.pomodorotechnique.com.

In a nutshell – you set a timer(kitchen timer, app on phone, etc) for 25 minutes and work on your chosen project. If you get interrupted you start the timer back to the beginning. After 25 minutes of solid work you get to take a break. After 4 Pomodoros – you can take a 15 minute break. It helps limit stuff too – for instance I set the timer just now for 25 minutes and that’s ALL the time I have to look at email. I might go back to emails through the day at my 5 and 15 minute breaks. Simple. The pomodoro is named after a certain kitchen timer that is shaped like a tomato (pomodoro in italian) but any timer will do.

It’s a great focusing device. I like David Seah’s forms to track pomodoros and it also show whats interruptions you have and how long a project actually takes to do. I was on a decluttering jag at home one Saturday and I did 22 pomodoro’s worth or 9 hours of decluttering! It’s fun!

Thank you very much Danielle! I downloaded the tools and will try it.
Congratulations on your 22 pomodoros of de-cluttering, wow!!!

Stop giving out so much good tips! I can’t keep up whith all that you’re giving out. Just kidding! ;-) I learn soooo much from you guys, and there are so many things I want to look into and perhaps implement in my own life, but right now I don’t know where to find the time. :-(

Hi Karen,
That is great, that you take the time for planning. I think you could give yourself points here for planning your habit – could also be an incentive to plan more and each day ;-).
What will your next habit be?
And how did you use dropbox to post the links? I was wondering if we would like to exchange our planning forms – I have done one for the early rising habit. Then we can learn from each others habit formation but also be able to comment on them and give feedback on the forms? I would like that.
Best,
Sarah

@sarah thanks for your comments. Giving points for planning sounds awesome. I need to check this out…don’t know how does that work. For Dropbox there is a in-app option that allows you to copy the file’s link. Then I pasted it on the post. I suppose it is also available on the desktop web version. Will have to check.
@asa
Thanks asa! It’s great that you could join us here! Honestly I learned more by not doing then doing. I used not to plan and would fail. This way is less stressful for me.

Hi Karen,
You could just click that you did “The Work” during this week – when you did the planning for 5Minutes. That was what I meant. And then from next week onwards or whatever, you give yourself the points by doing it.
Cheers,
Sarah

@Sarah
Thank you, Sarah! It’s as if we comunicated psychically because I was just writing on my form that I needed to revise my reward program. I am usually too tired to read after doing my habit in the evening. This website is so enjoyable and well done for habit creation that it fits quite well for sll the systems (reward, accountability and support).

Here are my forms by the way
