A pretty decent “day off” – I still accomplished a lot, but I was mostly following my whims and doing whatever I felt like doing. :) Back to the usual today!

Decent days off. Gets my vote! How nice to have a transition from one month to the next…that’s what it sounds like. And a little relieft after NaNoWriMo ended, too—not a bad thing. :-)

I am hovering around an okay weight (still higher than I want) and am very tired and recovering from NaNoWriMo.

Do you meet your NaNoWriMo goal? Hope so!

Almost. I nearly got to 48,000 words.

Wow! Impressive! I didn’t get anywhere near there. Next year.

Oh, Janna, fantastic finish! I’m really proud of you and happy for you, too. I also didn’t come anywhere close to even my ‘half goal’ but I’m still glad I did ‘something’ and really enjoyed starting something different.

At 48K, do you feel it’s nearly done, done, or needs a lot more words? I misjudged mine last year. I thought I was 2/3 of the way there—and I totally wasn’t, more like 1/3.

Have you run into PlotWriMo? No writing involved, lol, it’s exercises to clean up the plot over the course of December. I’m going to do it to get back into my 2010 big project, which has had some plot issues I’ve been reluctant to dive into for a year now!

That’s really cool, Cynthia, I think I will use that for a few of my longer stories as I prepare for NaNoEdMo (http://nanoedmo.net) in March. :)

The story is about half-done. I wrote all of the most important plot points and skipped over a lot of the other stuff. Writing a fantasy was a different adventure – I’ve been writing YA novels for the last few years (since 2006, with only 2007 being different) and those are finished at 50K (of course, they need a lot of editing and rewriting afterward).

I’m a little disappointed that I didn’t win this year, but I figure next year I’ll be better prepared and I’ll finish earlier. :) (I say that every year. And yes, I have won three times. Next year will be win number four!)

I wrote over 10,000 words today but ended NaNoWriMo with just under 48,000 words. It was a difficult month for me in a few different ways, so I’m happy with what I managed and I think I’ve got the bones of a pretty decent fantasy novel (probably the first in a series) on my hands.

Batman never did get beyond about 4,000 words, but I don’t think he minds too much. He just liked the idea of writing a novel. I don’t think he was all that interested in doing the work. ;)

I had a 5k day! Actually more like 5500 words. :D Sitting at 37k for my NaNo novel right now, which is pretty good. Hoping to do the same tomorrow, only with more words. We’ll see how I do.

Also washed my hair, did some theory, ate my frog, did the dishes, made food, and did my physio. So I am very pleased. :)

Oh, Janna, that’s WONDERFUL! I can almost hear Batman squealing with delight. Or does he want a carrot??? I am impressed. A 5K day is a Very Big Deal! (sounds of cheering, trumpets and hoots of joy)

We were up late last night – went out with one of my WriMos to celebrate his birthday. I am sooo exhausted now. Going to bed.

I have 31.5k words and am hoping to write at least 5k tomorrow (I’d rather make it to 40k, but we’ll see how the day goes). I can’t cross my fingers though; if I do, I won’t be able to type! ;)

I am having a most excellent day! I got up at 7.00 a.m. and wrote for half an hour by hand – about 360-some words! Go me! :)

Batman’s got 3400 or so and people are starting to post to his thread about it on the NaNo forums saying they’ll contribute, so that’s awesome, too.

AND… I think I might have figured out an approach to my finances that will finally work and make sense to me! I’m going to refine it this month and start using it December 1. Wish me luck!

karalianne had a couple thoughts.

Heart.half.16 4 · 2,721 pts

Okay, so I am listening to Harmonics: Rise of the Magician (Collin Earl and Chris Snelgrove). It’s available on iTunes and via podiobooks (which means it’s free!). I found it when I was looking for the next House of Grey book, which doesn’t exist yet. (These are all podcasts, though the Harmonics stuff is also available written.) I really love this stuff and highly recommend these guys’ work.

Anyway, in this one, the MC is in high school in the future former USA, and the expletive of choice is “OMGWB,” which, when said in full, is “Oh my George W Bush.”

I think that this phrase should completely replace “Oh my God” as an epithet from now on. I really like it.

:) MaryAnn

Okay. Think carefully now.
Do you really want to be reminded
of what you will be reminded of,
every single time you say that?

:) karalianne

Yup, because it will remind me of the book, and it is awesome.

I don’t understand what you don’t understand…

:) Brooke

I don’t understand
whether the future former USA’s
expletive-of-choice
is in favor of,
or not in favor of,
the person who inhabited the current USA’s
White House from 1/20/2001-1/20/2009.

:) MaryAnn

Okay, let’s see if I can meddle , ummm, I mean, help sort this out . . . .

Brooke, are you thinking that the use of “OMGWB” in its own way honors GWB, and are you consequently wondering how it’s possible that anyone would want to do that, or would even risk sounding like they want to do that?

Janna, would you have any reservations about using a phrase that might in its own way honor GWB, or even possibly sound like it honors GWB?

:) karalianne

I don’t think it honours anyone, really. I like it because it’s funny – especially if you say it in a “Valley-Girl” voice (try it; you’ll see what I mean). And I think it’s better than OMG, which is basically breaking a commandment. There’s nothing in either Testament that says anything about not using a person’s name like that. ;)

Another friend, you can call her H, is having troubles. Part of her troubles, to my mind, are her boyfriend behaving like an a$$, but she is also having some depression. Good thoughts etc. for her would be appreciated!

Have you thought of starting a prayer group?
You’re affiliated with a local church, right?
Church members generally love prayer groups (if they don’t already have one going).

:) karalianne

I pray for them during prayers at church all the time! :) Just don’t have a prayer cycle or anything. And I definitely am not the one to start such a thing. :P

You could plant the idea in the head of one of the “activists” in the church. Somebody around 50, 60, 70, one of those energetic types who walks fast and who likes to organize stuff.

:) healthyrach

Good thoughts en route! Lol about looking for an energetic activist-type.
