I would love the ability to set rules for the month. Like I would add a rule to take one hike in a month and one bike ride in a month. :)

lizriz has a question about the List grateful things rule.

Heart.full.16 10 · 1,928 pts

I thought I read someone say that there’s an interface with the site for this rule? How does it work?

:) lizriz

Yes, that helps. Cool!

Sounds like fun! I’m going to try it in February. :)

Yeah, I don’t think what I’m looking for is in there. Like, “Here’s how the fish rule works, and here’s why farm-raised fish are bad.” For example.

Where’s buster benson when you need him? ;-)

i didn’t even know farm-raised fish was bad until you started discussing it here… i don’t think they have that in the encyclopedia. not sure why. probably to keep the rules flexible/customizable (notice how we get to add a note to the rules we add), like i can make an exception for my FPMC rule, etc. and easy to use (like HealthMonth changed the rule from 750 words to pages because Buster wanted people to be able to follow the rule without having to be in 750words.com). i’m guessing that’s why it’s not elaborated in the encyclopedia… but that’s just my guess. ;)

I wish to set more custom rules! For example, I would like to eat fish once a week, but the whole “farm-raised fish” rule is confusing to me. But I’m already using my custom “do” rule, so I can’t set another. I think.

:) tallnoe

Farm-raised is bad. Period. Maybe you can just use farm-raised and say that it’s the same as your fish rule? Or just make something else be your fish rule?

:) lizriz

The farm-raised fish rule is weird because it’s how many days you didn’t eat farm-raised fish – So that’s every day you didn’t eat fish at all, too, whereas I would like a rule to eat fish a certain number of times a week.
Why is farm-raised fish bad?

:) lizriz

I suppose I should use the “multi-vitamin” rule for my B-Complex, and then I can use the custom do for my fish. :)

This is about salmon in particular, but the rule applies for other species as well.

Also, since the farm-raised fish are genetically different, if they escape, they give those genes to fish they come into contact with.

Farm-raised fish is like the water equivalent of mad cows. Not really, but they could be…

Well put.

:) lizriz

Ah, thank you! When I first saw that rule I couldn’t imagine whether farm-raised was good or bad.

Is anyone else in Film Independent? We’re getting some great screeners this year for the Spirits Awards. Can’t wait to see The Kids Are Alright.

Alas, I’m not in Film Independent. I should probably join — their calendar of events looks like fun. ‘The Kids Are Alright’ was quite good. A well done movie.

I still haven’t seen it, but I’m dying to! Finally saw Winter’s Bone. REALLY good, but I liked Frozen River better.

Are the private notes when you do your daily turn completely private? Like, if someone follows a link to my profile, do they not see that note?

:) buster

Yes, only you can see the daily review. I might give an option to make them public eventually.

:) lizriz

Thank you – I like the idea of a private note about the day. I’ve got plenty other places for public expression, you know? :)

i have a similar question regarding the “grateful rule”. i didn’t realize it was integrated into HealthMonth.com, can people read what i’m grateful for?

lizriz, in the Yellow Bracket, played Saturday January, 1st for 56 points, following 100% of her 3 rules. She didn't lose any life points and therefore got 1 piece of fruit for the hard work.

Good Morning and Happy New Year, #HealthMonth! I’m excited to be trying this out, but I feel a little silly with just 3 rules. :)

:) Chanamaja

No need to feel silly. Work hard on your three. Be proud of your three.

:) lizriz

Thanks! I figured it was a good way to start and try it out. :)

:) peppersasen

don’t feel silly. as long as you follow your rules, you’re still cool. i feel sillier for having 14 rules and like half of them are impossible rules.

:) lizriz

:) I did try to make it doable – At least for the first month. :D
