Back from vacation. I stayed somewhat sick throughout, but improving I think. Now I’m home and there’s a lovely bunch of rainy days coming up. Plus, another new client!

Crazy swollen (thus the water weight gain) with an RA flare that must be related to the fact that I still have not shaken this respiratory infection. Nevertheless, loading up the car and heading to the beach for a few days. Maybe the salt air and steamy hot tub will do me some good. Or maybe just the change of scenery after over two weeks of illness.

Beach cure sounds like what the doctor would order.

On the mend, but still disbelieving the intensity of the virus. Maybe that’s why it’s lasting so long. My guy is back on his feet as of Day 13, and I’m on Day 8, so relief is theoretically just … still a few days away.

Meanwhile, though, it’s raining! Love the pitter patter of raindrops on the roof, curled up with a good book and a mug of homemade chai. I’d probably be doing this even if I wasn’t still sick, come to think of it. :)

That’s good, then! Being sick isn’t stopping you from doing the cozy, relaxing, comforting things you’d otherwise do, nor is it stopping you from enjoying the rain. :-)

Wow, that is quite a virus. Take extra care, Laurie, please. X

Scratch that. Too dizzy either from Sudafed abuse or from the virus itself. Plus folks on transit do not love a hacking co-traveler. Out of respect for self and others, I am staying home! I can go to the bank tomorrow. How are you today? Any improvement?

Good for you, sticking to your rules even thought you’re not feeling well.

I actually decided a long time ago that on the days that I’m sick, I just give myself a “pass” on my exercise rules — otherwise I ended up just chastising myself instead of taking care of myself. The other rules … Well, it’s been easy to stay under my calories and not eat sweets because I can’t taste a damned thing! :)

:) BarbaraF

Ah, that makes sense, having a ‘pass’ seems like a really good and appropriate rule too!

Still so sick.

I hate seeing weight loss via being sick, so am not celebrating any of that. My mom was diagnosed with cancer when I was six and was in and out of hospitals until she died when I was in my early twenties. I know this is a bit dramatic, but being sick myself triggers a bunch of that stuff, especially when I can’t eat, can’t get up and move around. I over-compensate by doting on my dude (as my mother could not care for me for so many years because she was so sick so often), which confuses him since clearly I’m quite sick and he is quite nurturing. Oh dear.

Beautiful awareness, which is a great start. Stuff like that is pretty crappy and there’s no deadline on having it worked out. Hope you’re feeling better soon!

Very, very sick day. Haven’t been this sick in many years. A bit concerned because I’m supposed to go off the injections I take for RA if I have a fever, but did my weekly a few hours before I noticed I had a fever. So … my immune system is not at its best. Trying to rest but move around so as to ward off pneumonia and deep self-pity. Bah.

Boo. I didn’t know that about RA biologics, will remember if/when I go back on Humira. Being that sick is no fun at all.

:) ljneighbors

Yes, I suppose the drill is that they increase your chances of infection so much — so, ideally you don’t inject and you hop on antibiotics right away when you show any sign of infection. I did that the first few years, but … I haven’t accepted that taking all of those antibiotics made sense. My new doc is less stringent about this — but I haven’t really been sick in the last couple of years, so I haven’t tested this out. So, trying to pay attention.

Hmmm, now that I think of it, I think I did avoid taking it when I was sick – I guess it’s just been a while since it’s been on the brain. Yeah, anytime I’m on an antibiotic I make extra sure to take a probiotic to balance things out.

Woke up on Sunday very sick with the virus that my guy had been struggling with for a week. High fever, lots of whining, lots of tea. Lots of pain! A bit better today, but still taking it easy. Yuck.
