It’s Saturday and I really do feel like I totally kicked ass this week. I feel pretty worn out from all of the working out, but grateful I have the weekend to rest up and recover! Went to see an incredible band called Peelander-Z last night, all my friends were there, spent a lovely morning with my boyfriend, and I spent the afternoon with my two BFFs. Really, things could not be greater.

So running… is much easier from a fatigue standpoint since I’ve quit smoking (amazingly so), but man is it hard on my hips, chins and knees. I can’t tell if that means my body is telling me to keep trying and get better or STOP THIS IS NOT FOR YOU. I do need to get better running shoes, but do any of you runners have any tips to get over the ow, my sore body parts hurdle?

By coincidence, I just heard a podcast about starting to run. Great shoes are recommended of course, but also varying your pace, loosening your upper body, and making sure your feet strike the ground correctly. Check out http://getfitguy.quickanddirtytips.com/how-to-start-running.aspx

You juat have to push through – it gets better after a while. Although, if you are training seriously (such as for a marathon), you will likely have some pain somewhere pretty much all the time. As you get fitter, though, you recover much faster.

Anyway, pain is just one of the rewards of exercise ;-)

Also, if your chins are hurting, you’re doing it wrong ;-)

I was also going to recommend Born to Run. I’m just back into running and using Vibram’s and making sure you’re landing correctly is really important! It has made a big difference in my knees and ankles not hurting anymore.

I feel soooo wiped. I’m not sure if I’m pushing myself too hard or what, but I suspect that’s what it is. I’ve been trying to balance a lot, and doing really well at it, but it’s Thursday and it was hard to drag myself out of bed today, let alone drag my way to the gym. I had a great time last night, went to a poetry reading with some friends, and then crashed at my boyfriend’s (who I haven’t seen all week what with the busy!). I made plans to see a friend tonight but I think I’m going to stay in and do absolutely. NOTHING.

I agree! Give yourself the pleasure of sleep!

I’m bad at going to bed early, myself. I need to be tricked out of endlessly consuming information on the internet. The other day, I managed it by getting all comfy in bed and putting a podcast on. By the time it was over, I was fast asleep, and I hadn’t felt like I was wasting the time because I was thinking “I’m going to relax and listen to a podcast” rather than “I’m going to bed at 7:40.”

(And oh did that sleep feel good.)

I did so great yesterday. I got up and went to the gym and ran on the treadmill longer and farther than I have since I was probably a child. It felt AWESOME. When I was a smoker I would choke and sputter and generally feel like I was about to die when I’d try to run. Then I knocked the “be social” rule out of the park by having a nice healthy dinner with a friend. HOORAY!

would you mind giving me a sponsorship? please if you don’t mind. thanks before :)

Hey, I think you have to add a certain number of rules (more than 3 I think) in order to be eligible for sponsorship. So add some rules and anyone will be able to sponsor you (from what I have come to understand.)

I’m going to need to buy a scale that actually works. My digital scale got wet and now it tells me I weigh either 1.5 pounds or 270 pounds. It’s pretty good for comic relief, though. I am excited for a new month!!!

Totally baffled as how the number on the scale keeps going up, instead of down, but I’m not going to worry too much about it. I feel better (and I think I look better too). Maybe muscles are being gained. Maybe my better mood is actually showing up on the scale. I am definitely going to start tracking what I eat better, though.

Yesterday was an awesome day! Woke up early, had a lovely breakfast and day with the boyfriend, played some video games, went to see a beautiful symphony, went for a lonnnngggg walk through the Fenway, down to Newbury Street to the Prudential, then had a really lovely meal in a sweet little restaurant. Maybe a perfect Boston day.

Been on such a get-’er-done tear this week that it might be hard for me to relax today! I am sure I will figure it out. :)

It’s been a busy work because I’ve been keeping busy! Slow at work now that the deliverable drama is over, but I’m kicking ass on working on getting my album out (finally). It’s going to be a great weekend, I’m super excited for it!

Yeeha! Go you for working on the album! I’m sure it feels good to finally have the time to pay attention to it.
