qfiffle has a question.
I accidentally let last week get away from me and now I have seven unplayed turns. I honestly can’t remember whether I followed my rules and what days I did which. When I start to play I get a message that I can just skip to the bottom and click “end this turn” if I like, but I tried that and it seems to treat that as though I didn’t do ANY of my rules (which is not the case). I.e. I start losing a lot of life points. Is there any good solution for this situation, or should I play all seven turns and take my best guesses? Honestly, one of the reasons I got so behind is that once I skipped three days I couldn’t really remember what rules I had kept and I put off checking in here because it seemed like too much work!
qfiffle, in the Yellow Bracket, played Saturday March, 19th for 69 points, following 33% of her 3 rules.
She
lost 2 life points for missing the following: draw one sketch a day every day, exercise for 30 minutes every day.
Her public review of the day was…
Whoops. I think I got too complacent. Also, it unexpectedly turns out that drinking most of a bottle of wine is NOT the same as exercising, and kind of makes the latter less likely to happen.
qfiffle needs fruit, badly.
I lost 2 life points because of the following things…
Help! I was overseas for the last three days for a funeral and didn’t manage ANY of my rules. I updated for two of those three days and now I am down to 2 life points. If I update for the third day, I am going to run out of life points entirely. Can anyone give me fruit?

Thanks everyone! You rock! |
I was overseas the last three days for a funeral. I wasn’t able to keep ANY of my rules while I was away. Next time I travel I need to figure out the logistics in advance.

It sounds like this trip was a little bit harder to plan in advance for. I’m sorry about the circumstances of your trip! You’ll get back on track now that you’re home. :) |

That’s true. Today is going much better already! |
Oh well, the month is done, at least! Someone donated me life points (thanks bigmusic!) but unfortunately that meant I went all WOO EXTRA LIFEPOINTS I CAN CHEAT TODAY!
Well today sucked, but I’ve finally tracked down someone who swears they spoke to my mother since the quake, so she’s okay. Heard from 5 out of 7 friends in Christchurch now too.

Don’t forget the odds are really, really good even for the ones you haven’t heard from yet. It’s scary to know they were there and something could have happened but the odds are all they have is a few bruises and a lot of contact trauma. |

Thanks, Jane: I know. I’m the one who has been telling people that the last 24 hours! My colleagues are kind of weirded out that I’m not too worried about the last two friends I haven’t been able to track down, but I keep telling people: 75 deaths is less than 0.025% of the population. There is almost no chance that any individual was involved. (That’s no comfort to the families of the dead, obviously, but it should be very reassuring to people who are still looking.) There is a much much higher chance that people have their phones cut off, and/or houses damaged to the point that they are at an evacuation centre, which equally well explains why they aren’t easy to find. |
I really have to stop leaving both writing and exercise until just before bedtime! I keep running out of time.
Today sucked. It was busy and stupid people said stupid things, and then a coworker brought in banana bread which made everything okay again except for my no-sugar rule.

But it’s what you needed right then, right? Think of life points as leeway for indulgence when you need it. You’re not breaking rules, you’re spending life points when circumstances make that the best option. And having satisfying banana bread on a sucky day is totally the best option. |

How can you tell who needs “healing”? I have some “fruit” now, and am happy to give them to someone, but I can’t figure out how.

People can “plea for fruit” if they get low in life points. It’ll appear in your team wall as a post. :) |

Yeah, they have to ask for it. Those posts are easy to spot, because they have a big button in them that says “Heal them with 2 fruit.” |

Also if you go to someone’s profile page there is an option to give them fruit. |
I totally wouldn’t have exercised, or written for the second 25 minute period today without this game. Um, hurrah for potential social shame?

I know, right? Public shame is turning out to be an effective motivator for me too. |
