Prepping for the Warrior Dash has certainly added some spice to my runs. I went to a park not far from my house and jogged around it, stopping periodically to do step ups on low walls, crawl under hurdles, and attempt swing on monkey bars. (I still don’t have the upper body strength/coordination to do monkey bars, but I can hang from the bars for a bit without falling off, which is more than I used to be able to do.)

And I provided bonus entertainment for toddlers, walkers, and folks doing tai chi.

In the afternoon, I went up to Mountain View with Daniel and we had lunch. Then he had a meeting which I didn’t want to hang around for, so I went for a walk on the Stevens Creek Trail and listened to a radio play on my iPod. Lovely. Now that I spend so much time “working out”, I sometimes miss just taking a long leisurely walk.

Watched some Doctor Who, made a salad for dinner, and took care of various small chores.

Did a mega clean out of the fridge, and then went grocery shopping. Went to see The Dark Knight Rises, which I enjoyed quite a bit. Made a pot of chili for dinner. Played some Skyrim. Lovely day.

I’m feeling a bit cranky today, probably because my plans to sleep in were once again scuppered by waking up incredibly hungry. Still, I got a ton of cleaning and grocery shopping done once I was up, which means I can enjoy the rest of my day in a leisurely way.

In early at work for a meeting. Went to the gym and did a light workout, because I was still sore from Wednesday’s. (Apparently bear crawls do a real number on your back and shoulders if you aren’t accustomed to them.)

Watched a documentary called Strong, about Olympic weightlifter Cheryl Haworth. A very interesting look at what it’s like to be a competitive athlete and a very large and strong woman. It’s airing on PBS right now and rentable/purchasable from iTunes – if you get a chance, check it out.

As part of my training for the Warrior Dash, I have added bear crawls to my workout. Nothing more fun than parading around on all fours with my bum in the air in front of all my colleagues in the gym.

Had a lovely dinner in Palo Alto at Cafe Renzo with Daniel’s parents.

This was my day of being 15 minutes late for everything. Except my personal training appointment, but that’s only because I have an alarm set on my phone to remind me when it’s time to leave for that.

Still, I had a productive day at work, and my trainer is super-excited about helping me get ready for the Warrior Dash.

I think I may finally be starting to get back into the swing of things with my meditation rule. Two days in a row I’ve actually managed to do it.

Had a good run Sunday morning. (The knowledge that I’ve signed up to do the Warrior Dash in October adds a little extra oomph to my training – I know I’ll need to be able to keep up with my friend!)

Hung out with a good friend and got caught up on her life, spent some time with Daniel, and did some reading. A good weekend. Roll on, Monday!
