This has been a bit of a tiring week, full of social experiences and new opportunities to learn. The introvert in me is about ready to spend a few hours in a dark room playing Skyrim, but it’s been a great time.

Second day of offsite. We did lots of work in small groups. I may at one point have proposed departmental revolution to a colleague. It was that kind of day.

Afterwards, I met up with a cousin to give him my guidebook to Paris (he’s traveling next week), dropped into a Starbucks so I could use their wifi connection to help a coworker back at the office solve a gnarly documentation problem, and got some advice from a stranger who wanted to share my power outlet on the best Linux distro to put on my Netbook. (I’m probably just going to go with Ubuntu, although Jolicloud has a certain appeal.)

After dinner, I went for a nice long walk, which helped considerably with decompressing from what was a fun but exhausting day.

Day 1 of a two-day training off-site. Learned about topics ranging from nutrition to brain-science. Not your typical work offsite.

Had dinner w/Daniel’s parents. While they’re in town for the summer, we try to have dinner together once a week, and try a different new restaurant. We tried Xanh, trendy but tasty Asian fusion in Mountain View.

Not a bad day for a Monday. Took care of a lot of fiddly little tasks at work. Went climbing after work and had a really good time.

A very relaxing day. I went grocery shopping, took care of our travel arrangements for Worldcon, did other miscellaneous chores. Just for a change of pace, I threw on my DVD of “Pilates for Wimps” and did the workout, which I remembered distinctly as being not for wimps. It still isn’t (so much ab work!), but I’m better able to keep up than I was before. Signs I’m getting fitter.

Made dinner and then went for a walk to enjoy the nice evening sunshine.

Always nice to have something remind you that what you’re doing is working. Yay for being “less wimpy”.

At work bright and early for an 8 a.m. meeting. The day got kind of frustrating – lots of last minute fire-drills to deal with. But I left early, and went to the gym and had a good workout.
