I seem to have omitted my stretching rule for July. I’m not sure if I did this deliberately or accidentally, but I’d forgotten I’d done it. So I’ve been stretching. We’ll see if I can keep this up. Had a lovely 4th of July off from work. After sleeping late and a leisurely breakfast, I went to the supermarket and got all sorts of veggies: corn, asparagus, eggplant, avocados. Tried a bit of a culinary experiment for dinner: I mixed some chopped scallions and crumbled feta into ground turkey, shaped it into burgers, and broiled them. Served them stuffed into pita with tzatziki sauce and slices of broiled eggplant. So tasty! (Although, honestly, I think just the broiled eggplant and tzatziki would have been tasty.) I’d been in a bit of a cooking rut for a while, but the arrival of summer’s seasonal produce seems to have jolted me out of it in a big way.

Had a great lunch with an old friend. Very quiet day at work – lots of folks were out of the office. Not much to report, but not a bad day at all.

Had my second workout with the new personal trainer. I think this one’s a keeper – he showed me a great dynamic stretching/warmup routine using the TRX, and we had a fun workout. I hadn’t completely realized how bored I’d been getting just working out on my own – it’s so nice to get to shake things up. Had a reasonably productive Monday at work. Made a delicious zucchini and mushroom frittata for dinner.

Woke up feeling really tired and kind of blah. Had coffee and brunch with Daniel, took care of some chores, and played on the computer for a while, and felt better. wshaffer checked in with the Crane.
Woke up kind of grumpy this morning, and am only slowly pulling myself out of it.

Had a really lovely day. Went to a birthday party BBQ for a friend, for which I concocted a rather tasty dish – I peeled three sweet potatoes and cut them into cubes, which I tossed with cumin, ancho chili powder, smoked paprika, cinnamon, and olive oil, and then roasted. Let them cool to room temperature, and tossed with some queso fresco and sliced scallions. Mmmmm. Meeting your bright vegetables quota has never been so indulgent. Had a lovely time at the party – talked with old friends, met some new people.

Well, clearly I’m still getting back into the swing of updating Health Month. I’m getting back to my strength training and running routine. Getting back on the wagon. It’s good.

Longish day at work. I went for a run afterwards, but felt kind of sluggish. Made salad for dinner, puttered around online.

Well, I didn’t update Health Month for the entire 10 days I was travelling this month, and then I didn’t update for about a week after I got back. I thought about just ditching June’s game, but I decided to just get back on the wagon, fill in my best guess as to how well I did on my rules. (I still made a point of flossing every day while I was away, and I know I didn’t do any weight training, because I hurt my hand on the 8th and wanted to give it time to heal up.) It’s nice to see you all still here and still being healthy!

More busy, busy, busy prepping for travel. Almost finished up everything on my to-do list for the day. |

Sounds delicious!
